Sport Scotland revealed that KARATE is # 1 sport of choice!
Karate revealed as the fastest growing sport for females participation in Active Schools programme.
New figures published to mark the start of Women and Girls in Sport Week show females are getting involved in more diverse sports. The biggest increase in participant was in karate, with a rise of 248%.
The statistics measured growth over a six-year period and are based on the top 20 participation sports in the Active Schools programme.
Sports Minister Aileen Campbell said: “Increased participation in sport and physical activity improves health and well-being, helps with self-esteem and, at the elite level, brings international success.
