New Champion of Champions Crowned!
Sunday was the last of this year’s Scottish Karate Grand Prix Events, which saw the next generation of SPORT KARATE EAST’s young female athletes take GOLD. Nikola Blaszczak not only took GOLD in the girls 5yrs/6yrs category but also was crowned this years “Champion of Champions” having been on the podium at every single championship this year.
Matthew Pratt also took GOLD at the end of year event in the boys 12yrs/13yrs +45kgs category. SKE had two other young athletes achieve BRONZE’s, Filip Zmudzinski in the boys 7yrs/9yrs – 4ft. 6” category and Archie Turnbull in the boys Kata 3rd Kyu and above category. Three other of our squad members Daisy Hutchison, Xander Dunn and Dawid Blaszczak made it to the quarterfinals in their respective categories’.
SPORT KARATE EAST’s coach Richard Mallinson stated that “This performance has set the squad up for the SKGB Nation Championships at the end of November.”
