Progression Pathway Exam – A Celebration of Growth and Achievement
At Sport Karate East, we believe in recognising every step forward on the martial arts journey. Yesterday’s Progression Pathway Exam was a perfect example of what happens when hard work, discipline, and focus come together. We’d like to extend a huge congratulations to everyone who successfully progressed to the next stage of their training.
The exam day was filled with energy, focus, and a strong sense of community. To give you a glimpse into the experience, we’ve put together a short video showcasing some of the highlights from the exam. It captures the effort, spirit, and determination that our students brought to the floor.
What Happens During a Progression Pathway Exam?
The Progression Pathway Exam is a key part of our structured curriculum. Here’s what it involves:
-
Individual Assessment: Students are assessed on the curriculum that corresponds with their current level.
-
Scoring by Coaches: Each coach provides a numeric score for the key components of the exam.
-
Averaged Results: The scores are averaged to ensure a balanced and fair result.
-
STAR Ratings: Successful candidates are awarded a STAR Rating, which is added to their profile in the SKE App.
-
Certificates and Belts: Students receive an electronic certificate and are awarded their new belt in recognition of their progress.
-
Parental Communication: An explanatory email is sent out to help parents understand the STAR Ratings and what they represent.
Preparing for the Next Stage
For those who have completed their first Progression Pathway Exam, this milestone also marks a transition: it becomes mandatory to purchase the appropriate safety equipment in order to participate in Kumite. This is a vital part of ensuring a safe and effective training environment as students advance in their skills.
The Journey Continues
Watching our students grow in confidence, technique, and personal discipline is why we do what we do. Every belt earned, every STAR achieved, and every challenge overcome is a testament to their hard work.
We are incredibly proud of each student who took part. Whether they earned a new belt or simply learned something new about themselves, each step is progress.
We’d love to hear from you.
